- Carrot Creek. June 4+5.[1943]
Game seen on 4th: In evening [words crossed out] On way in saw
8 elk in the Bow valley, noted tracks
coming up Carrot Creek + in evening
saw 2 large bulls feeding on
the sidehills near camp. One
6 +/- year old ram feeding just
north of camp. An old billy goat
+ a yearling seen on hoodoos
beside trail coming in.
Game Seen on 5th:- Saw 2 large bull elk
both with antlers throwing their
4th [fourth] points - one of these I am sure
was seen last night. Single
ram near camp + 6 rams on
next bluff south.
Kills:- Found an 8 year old ram near
the two lower kills previously
killed. Indications are that it was
a lion kill but I could not be
positive. Another 4 year old [male symbol] on
bluff near camp - lion kill but
untouched. 1 young deer - cause of
death unknown. 4 old sheep kills
one def [definitely] a 6 yr [year] ram, one a lamb
one an old ram + 1 unknown.
Range:- This is a broad valley with
the south [word crossed out] west side an old burn [illegible word crossed out]
the east side timbered to about 6000'
