8 goldeneye, 2 of them unbanded.

willow + bog birch brush at the
edge of a flooded meadow took
1 Microsorex, 4 Sorex cinereus, 3

The fine night brought out the
small mammals in force.
Williams Lake. Aug. [August] 18/48 [1948].
Left Chimney Lake about 10 o'clock
+ drove here by way of the valley
road. Rough but relatively dry.
Clouded up during the afternoon
+ rain by 7 o'clock + our 3 day
dry spell is over. Staying at
Chilcotin cabins. Clean + comfortable.
Clinton Aug [August] 19/48 [1948]
This morning we tried to reach
Cariboo Bill Lake but the road
is too sloppy + it was raining
hard. Decided to pull out for
here + did so at 1:45. Arrived
here at 5:45. Road rough but
not in too bad shape.
In evening had a quick look
at the lakes near Clinton.
