  • Goldstream Lake. Aug. [August] 16/40 [1940]. Natural meadow. Dominants are in certain areas Carex sitchensis [underlined] elsewhere, C. [Carex] siccata [underlined] + C. [Carex] decidua [underlined] ? The C. [Carex] sitchensis is round the margin + in the less moist areas the others in the deeper water area. C. [Carex] brunnescens [underlined] + C. [Carex] interior [underlined] are characteristic of the more open spots along with 2 very graceful grasses The dwarf Hypericum [underlined] is dominant. Viola palustris [underlined], Geum [word crossed out] Galium bifolium [underlined], Scutellaria, [illegible word crossed out] galericulata are all abundant to sub dominant, Gentiana sceptrum [underlined] + Hypericum [underlined] perforatum [underlined] are fairly common, also Epilobium adenocaulon [underlined] Marginally Ranunculus reptans [underlined]. Veronica [underlined] + Oenanthe [underlined], Mimulus [underlined] + Juncus ensifolius [underlined] are common, Glyceria striata, feather grass + an occassional Sanguisorba microcephalum [underlined] Aster Douglasii [underlined] common in some meadows among the sedge, Myrica + Spirea [underlined]. On these meadows the only browsing I could find was on Oenanthe [underlined], Myrica [underlined] + Spirea though some of the grasses may be eaten.
