Jasper June 23/44 [1944]
Saw 3 [female symbol] 1 yearling [male symbol] 1 lamb 4 miles
north of town.
The two dry ewes showed no enlargement
of the udder - both of them had
virtually completed the moult. The
nursing ewe had an obviously
enlarged udder + had barely started
to moult.
The lamb was a large one -
collected it + yearling [male symbol] - see 44-6-23a + b
Jasper. June 25/44.[1944]
At the Ice Fields saw
18 rams, 10 ewes 1 lamb.
All ewes seemed fat + in good
condition but why so few lambs?
A group of 12 rams (3 to 8 yrs [years])
were eating wood ashes at
the chalet, the others were spread out
along the mt [mountain] for 3 miles. One
group of ewes was crossing the
Sunwapta to the west side.
Food: Of yearling ram shot 2 days ago
was largely the hard, white flowered
plant [space left blank] but also
included Astragalus adsurgens.
Poboktan Pass. July 4/44 [1944]
Sheep sign in western end of Indian Pass.
