  • Page 1 Kamloops, B.C. [British Columbia] May 23, 1929. Took a male + female chipmunk up Peterson Creek. They were in a young poplar, about 4 ft. [feet] from the ground, where they had taken refuge on seeing the dog. Male moulting, female in worn winter pelage. Took a male Thomomys f. [fuscus] fuscus in a steel trap, set in an underground working that appeared fresh. There were some fresh dandelion cuttings in the burrow The animal lived for about 6 hrs. [hours] Caught at night. Black Pines, B.C. [British Columbia] May 24. [1929] Temp [Temperature] 96 [degree symbol] Exp. [Experiment] no. [number] 3. Took 24 groundhogs 3 [female symbol], [illegible number] juv. [juveniles] + 9 [male symbol] recovered. Took 1 male + 1 juv [juvenile] in traps. The juv. [juvenile] squealed when I pulled it from its hole but the male dug itself in and fought viciously.
