- Ambystoma gracile [Northwestern salamander]
June 4/42 [1942]
One individual of three taken at Jordan
River on May 20/42 [1942 was almost
completely metamorphosed on this date
measuring as follows - 87.0mm [millimeter]
The 4 remaining salamanders still
retain larval characters.
June 5 [1942] A second salamander, recently metamorphosed,
measured 66 mm. [millimeters] in length
June 15 [1942] Two more, metamorphosed some [crossed out] two days
ago measured 64 + 61
Two more, metamorphosed several days
ago measured 70 + 75; these
were both preserved.
One, larger than the others, measured 89mm. [millimeters]
; kept alive.
July 27 [1942] Ches [Charlie?] Lyons brought in part of
egg mass in which larvae were hatching;
collected in pond at 4,000 feet on
Mt Seymour, North Vancouver. He
reports them to be abundant. Large
larvae are also common.
