- the lake + then climbed to
the peak overlooking Miller Lake.
Around Eva Lake the country
is extremely rough, rising
rapidly to 8000' in a series
of sharp ridges of broken rock.
Immediately around the lake
the cover is much as it is
at Balsam Lake viz. Balsam, Spruce
+ Mt [Mountain] Hemlock, with Azalea on the
S. [South] slope + heather on the north facing
slope.
The trees rapidly give way
to broken rock slides of
huge boulders, these become
finer + with some earth
where the slides get steeper
+ end in the abrupt pinnacles
+ cliffs of the peaks. Around
lake level Pink [word crossed out] Red + white
heather are abundant, higher
up the yellow replaces the
red + in a few places
the pink takes the place of
the yellow.
On the steep S [South] facing
slopes white heather
predominates.
