- Marmota caligata
Monashee Pass. June 27, 1937.
Saw a single individual
at 4000 ft [feet] on the East
side of the second lake on
McIntyre creek. This animal
was very shy + took
to its burrow immediately
Mt [Mount] Revelstoke, B.C. [British Columbia] July 1, 1937
Marmots abundant here
at 6000 ft [feet]. Prefer the
rockslides facing south.
+ west. Except where
close to people they are
very tame permitting approach
to within 8 or 10 ft [feet].
One taken was eating the
fluffy headed sedge. I noticed
much used nesting material
outside some of the burrows.
This was entirely of dried
grass + sedge.
The two [male symbol]'s taken today
were both without fat.
No young animals seen as
yet.
Mt. [Mount] Revelstoke, B.C. [British Columbia] July 4, 1937.
Photographed an adult marmot
by the roadside - 5 exposures
July 5. Caught an ad. [adult] [female symbol] in a trap
baited with groundsquirrel.
