Kidliut Bay. July 26/47
This morning we flew to Tuk [Tuktoyaktuk]
+ on the way photographed a large
Pingo near the melage. Dr [Alf Erling] Porsild
tells me that these earth mounds
are formed by hydraulic pressure
in cone shaped, filling, lake basins
On the way back here we flew
over a considerable part of the
northern corner of Richards Isl. [Island]
In the afternoon we went by skiff
to the island about 6 miles by water
north of the bay + there scouted
for fox dens. It was a bitterly
cold day with N.W [northwest] wind + the
trip in the open boat proved to be
quite miserable Very little fox
sign of this years activity.
