- Westwick Lake Tuesday, Aug. [August] 30
Weather: fine
I went down to Dog Creek. The
scenery was beautiful, but it
was too dark to see anything
past Dog Creek Airport. The
road down in to Dog Creek is
absolutely awful. I noticed
50-60 ducks around the edge
of Alkali Lake but couldn't
see what kind.
Lawson Sugdon came down
to see about when we were
leaving. As the ranch now
has a phone, we could phone
him when he is needed.
Westwick Lake Wednesday, Aug. [August] 30
Weather: fine AM. cloudy P.M.
All Nancy [Mahoney] saw at Onward
Ranch was a flock of 1000
blackbirds (mostly redwings
and a few yellowheads) -
probably the same flock
(enlarged) that was there last
time, a group of 4 sparrow
hawks. At Jones Lake she
saw 5 red-necked grebes, 2 with
red necks, They came within
15 feet of the boat.
This morning the blackbirds
