Sept [September] 5. 2 cows Maccarib trail
3 [male symbol] 4 [female symbol] 1 calf 2? probably cows
all in a group on lower slopes
of Mt [mount] Majestic.
Sept [September] 7; 1 [male symbol] 4 [female symbol] 1 calf. near cabin.
The group on the base of Mt [mount] Majestic
+ the group that came down near
the cabin today constituted breeding
harems.
The former contained a herd
bull, a 3 yr [year] +/- bull a 2 yr [year] +/- bull
+ 4 cows certain 2 more believed
to be cows + one young animal
classified for the present as a calf.
The group seen today consisted of
a herd bull 4 cows and a calf
The first calf seen was very
dark - looked black + Jim [Hatter] who was
close to it, states that it had small
spikes about 1 to 2 inches in length.
The calf seen today was brownish
in color - about the color of the
sides of the large bulls. It was
smaller in size than the other one
One cow seen was antlerless, 2 each
had one antler + the rest two
antlers. All in the velvet.
The cows are very dark all over
when young but the larger, presumably
older animals have the necks grayish
