halfway down. Sitkum Point
About 1/4 mile off shore at this
point are 4 or 5 small islands
+ rocks. On the two outermost
of these is a Sea Lion rookery. With
the field glasses I counted appr. [approximately] 150 on
the inshore side of the rocks. The bulls
were dark bodied but had light
sandy coloured head + necks. The
cows seemed to be light brown
all over./ About 4 pairs of oyster
catchers were breeding on the
point.
A single tattler was seen + taken
3 glaucous gulls were seen, all
juveniles in very light plumage
We took one; it appeared to
be a sick bird for the
plumage is very worn +
frayed. The other two successfully
eluded us.
A northern Phalarope [male symbol] came up
the slough to our camp + was
secured - It was slightly oiled.
3 curlew + a few Semipal [Semipalmated] - Plover
+ sandpiper were all the shore birds
seen.
May 15 [1931] Looks like rain. Walked
West along the beach to just past the
Indian reserve. Saw where a pair
of Otter had been playing.
Deer tracks very numerous
