- Cervus canadensis [underlined]
Banff, Alta. [Alberta] June 3/43 [1943]
Food:- Stomach contents of ad [adult] [female symbol]
#2158 60% grass
30% willow twigs
10% unid. [unidentified] forbs.
Parasites:-
Mallophaga [underlined] in moderate concentration
on lower sides. These lice were
seen to be very active, + moved
about over the skin rapidly.
The skin of this animal was in
poor condition with many patches
of scaly white slough.
Lung worm [underlined]: A heavy infestation
in the posterior lobe of the right
lung. Several hundred worms
present. There were no pneumonic
changes here but the bronchi were
thickened
Breeding:- This cow had recently given
birth. There was some blood encrusted
around the vulva but there was
no blood in the uterus which was
thick + white in appearance. There
was however practically no milk
in the udder.
Today encountered 10 cows singly
in the jack pine stands. Two of
these had apparently given birth.
