- Olive backed Thrush.
Willow Creek. May 29, 1944
After a four day storm Frank
Burstrom today picked up 4 thrushes
dead alongside the trail. During
the storm the thrush looked very
miserable + were easy to approach
Sometimes permitting one within
5 or 6 ft [feet] of them as they sat on
a little clear spot of ground at
the base of a tree. I saw none dead
during a hike of 6 miles or so
but much of my route lay in
territory where the thrushes would
not have been.
Jacques Lake July 22/44 [1944]
Today we saw two lots of
young just out of the nest. These were
near Grizzly Shelter on the Rocky.
