- June 3. [1961]
Finally struggled out of bed at 11:00
+ seeing the tide very low we hurried
across Parry passage + picked up a
dozen or so abolonie [abalone] on the point
Were not particularly plentiful. Then
back to shack + fried them up.
Spent afternoon packing + got lift
out of Henslung on Co-op. [Co-operative] packer
the Challenger bound for 7 mi. [mile] Pt [Point].
Spent night aboard the hot, stuffy,
Challenger, with the winches busy most
of the night.
June 4
Up at 5:30 + heavily laden away
by 6. Once in open found a strong S.E.er [southeaster]
blowing so had to batter our way thru [through]
the white caps. Ran short of gas +
feared we would splutter to a stop in the
middle. Miraculously kept running with tank
showing 0 'till [until] we reached the far shore
+ worked our way along to Sam Simpsons
before we ran dry.
Dry off, rye on at the [Peter] Henson's.
Excellent supper.

Sent off 5 gift packages of Sam Simpson's
Fancy packed produce.
Headed south for Q.C.C. [Queen Charlotte City] Rain most
of the way + saw no deer en route. Do fish
in Tlell. Doug Richardson showed us the trail to
the Tlell above high tide + we were able
to pick up snails, leech + fresh water
limpets on the pond lilies.
