  • Violet Green Swallow. 1937. Victoria, B.C. [British Columbia] Mar. [March] 9 - First flock seen. Weather bright after some snow. Mar. [March] 14. Another flight of swallows in Mar. [March] 30-31 36 dead swallows picked up near Kemp Lake. Others brought in from all about Victoria. Specimens examined by me were terribly emaciated Death evidently due to starvation as a result of the extremely cold weather that has prevailed for the last few days. 1939. Mar. [March] 18. Victoria First swallows arrived this morning 1940. Mar. [March] 16. Victoria First swallows arrived this morning became numerous on the 18th. 1941 Mar. [March] 10. Crescent Beach. Saw first pair of swallows. Others seen in succeeding week. Common by Mar. [March] 23 in + around Vancouver 1942. Mar [March] 8 Colony Farm. First swallows this year. 1943, March 26 Vancouver (U.B.C. [University of British Columbia]) Several in flight about University buildings. H.M. [Hamilton Mack] Laing reports March 11, 1943. at Comox
