Aug [August] 25/43 [1943] Warden McGuire tells me that 1 2 or 3 [words crossed out] elk has penetrated west of Robson but that the main band does not come above Moose Lake. Also that 30 +/- head wintered last winter at Grand Cache. Also in May 25/26, 1943 he saw 2 newly born calves on an island in the Athabasca just below Jasper. Jasper, Alta. [Alberta] Sept. [September] 6/43 [1943] Bulls have been bugling for about a week now. Heard about 6 diff. [different] bulls today all young animals. Note tracks of cows + calves on Devona + Moberly flats. Jasper. Sept. [September] 17/43. On Buffalo Prairie 2 bulls, 1 cow.
