  • LEFT PAGE Brig "Byzantium" Came out from England. Wooden. Small. Was sold here and put into the whaling trade under Captain Rays and was abandoned in Johnson Straits and drifted out to the ocean and became a total wreck. She was never found. --- Ship "Thrasher" Fine large Wooden Sailing ship of 2000 tons. Was towed on to Gabriolo [Gabriola] Reef by 2 tugs and became a total loss with 3000 tons coal. No insurence. Belonged to Sewell & [and] Co [company] Bath Maine. Hung on the Reef for a long time before breaking up. Maine Built. --- Ship "John Rosenfeldt" Fine large 2000 ton Wooden Sailing Ship. Was towed on to Reef by the Tug Tacoma near Active pass and became a total wreck with 3000 tons coal. Staid on the 3 years before [going?] to pieces. Owned by Sewell Bros [brothers] of Bath Maine. Not insured. --- Stmr [Steamer] Gussie Telefair Formerly [unreadable struckthrough] Blockade runner. Iron propeller. English Built. RIGHT PAGE 173 Steamer "Pelican" Formerly Blockade runner. Iron propeller. --- Steamer "Mohongo" Double Ender. Old American Man a War Side Wheeler. --- Steamer "Salvador" Iron propellor. Ran to Frisco [San Francisco] --- Steamer "Victoria" Formerly the Bolivar. Lengthened and named Victoria. Ran between Victoria & [and] Frisco [San Francisco] Wrecked while coal laden and bound for Frisco [San Francisco]. Iron Propellor. Built in England Capt [captain] Reichman --- Steamer "City of Chester" Iron propellor. Built in Chester Pennsylvania Ran between Victoria & [and] Frisco [San Francisco]. Ran into and sunk off Frisco [San Francisco] Harbor by the Stmr [steamer] Oceanic from Australia. Many lives lost. Total Wreck. Fine Boat Capt [captain] Seabury ---
