- Hardy Island April 3/43 [1943]
Yearling [male symbol].
External:- Animal in fair condition,
very slight soiling of under side
of tail.
Internal:- Axillary + inguinal lymph
glands enlarged - probably as a
result of toxin produced by
ticks attached nearby. Muscles
+ membranes in good condition.
Heart, lungs + viscera normal.
Liver darker than normal but
change may have been post-mortem.
The only noticeable anomaly
was in the condition of oedema
+ swelling, without inflammation
of the area between the mandibles,
around the root of the tongue the
submaxillary glands + naso
pharynx. This swelling was
externally visible as a puffiness
of the upper throat.
The only associated circumstance
that may have been causal
was the heavy population of
Cephenomyia [Cephenemyia] larvae in the
retropharyngeal recesses.
