Lang's Post. Aug. [August] 7/47 [1947].
Fierce northerly gale raged all
day with rain setting in at
10 P.M. In a.m. explored another
series of lakes across the river
these again were most disappointing
Steep shore lines with vegetation
of trees to the margin. No or little
change in water level
makes trapping hopeless.
In afternoon ran up the
creek s [south] of here + explored
the lakes along it. Found one or
two good muskrat layouts
in which we placed 5 live traps
+ took an ad [adult] [male symbol] + [female symbol] right away.
Dirty river water is piling into
the creek + lakes ahead of the wind
+ making it impossible to locate
the rat burrows.

mallard 1 [male symbol] 3 [female symbol] 2 young.
widgeon 2 [female symbol] 15 young.
