Asyndesmus lewisi [underlined]
July 10th 1921 H.E. Garmans Camp on the
Seymour Creek. Warm + bright.
Six or eight L. [Lewis] woodpeckers noticed
flying about from top to top of tall
dead trees. Watched them for several
hours + they spent all this time
flycatching in true flycatcher style
July 17th Lewis woodpeckers still
seen about the Seymour Creek
Camp (H.E. Garman).
Aug [August] 20th 1921. JW Winso states that
the L [Lewis] woodpeckers are not so common
this summer about Huntingdon BC [British Columbia]
Sept [September] 4th 1921. Five or six L [Lewis] woodpecker
seen at Altamont, were flying about
from top to top of the tall fir trees near
the beach. Watched them for about an
hour flycatching.
Sept [September] 8th 1921 - Mr [space left blank] Abbot mentioned
that he had seen a number of L [Lewis] woodpeckers
at Selma Park Howe Sound BC [British Columbia] this summer.
May 31st 1922:- J.W.W. [Winson] mentioned having
seen an adult bird at Mr Pratts place
near Abbotsford
Rosedale B.C. [British Columbia] [underlined] May 1st 27 [1927] Two seen by
road near Popcom Lake, B.C [British Columbia]
Huntingdon BC [British Columbia] Aug [August] 31 + Sept [September] 1. 1929 [underlined]
Very numerous about JW. Winsons
ranch + are busy finishing up the
cherries + destroying some apples
which they eat. Three birds were
shot by Mr W. [Winson] + all stomach contained
remains of apples + cherries.
