8 mi. [miles] N. [north] Aklavik. June 13/47 [1947]
Saw fox tracks on the river bank
today. [Bert] Boxer states 4 or 5 fox a
winter is his average take.
4 red to 2 cross to 1 silver or less.
8 mi. [miles] N. [north] Aklavik. June 17, 1947
A 1/2 mile down [word crossed out] up river on the west
side there is a concentration of
fox tracks. I would say that
there was a den somewhere
nearby. Rabbit tracks numerous at
the same place.
Aklavik. June 20/47 [1947].
[John] MacDonald told me that 2
years ago the foxes died off + he
found several dead ones. In
general they ran in an aimless
fashion + died against some
willow thicket they had aimlessly
tried to get through.

Found a pile of 5 freshly killed
leverets about 5" [inches] long placed together
by a fox.
Found the remains of a dead red
fox in the willows near a tundra
lake. Dead at least a year.
