1892. Sold at auction for $3500 to
Chas Prevost and Whitelaw. Also her
Lumber Cargo 900000 feet sold on the
beach for $4 1/2 per 1000. Norwegian
Bark 1000 tons. Old Buffer. Captain

Whaleback C. O. Wetmore
The first Whaleback vessel on the Pacific
Coast. Arrived in Victoria February 11
1892. Capt [captain] Hastings. Came round from
the Atlantic Side. Built on one of the
great Lakes. Carries 3000 Tons Coal.
Flat Bottomed. Was in the Esquimalt
Dry Dock for repairs.

N.B. The Whaleback Wetmore went
ashore on the south spit at Coos Bay
Oregon and became a total loss in
the Breakers in the fall of 1892
She did not seem to be the right Kind
of build for the North Pacific Waters
Captain O'Brien formerly of the Steamer
"Premier" was Capt [captain] when she was lost.
