This deer was feeding in 1938 burn where there was no fir reprod. [reproduction] Food notes: Hedge nettle, salmonberry, Epilob. [Epilobium] august [word crossed out] adenocaulon, + the flowering rush are now being heavily utilized, oenanthe + R. [Ranunculus] flammula still contribute to the food supply but the latter only to a minor degree. Purslane + lactuca is eaten to a great or less degree where it occurs in the burned areas but very little browsing on them in the primitive areas. Pyrolla is 80% browsed, mainly flower stalks but some leaves. Apparently fir, salal, willow + berberis still contribute the major part of the food supply.
