36 mi [miles] S. [south] of Aklavik. Aug [August] 13/47 [1947]
Another wet day clearing slightly
toward noon but settling down
again to about 100 ft [foot] ceiling
by evening. Temp [Temperature] 40 [degree symbol] at 8 P.M.
The only blessing conferred by
the cold was the absence of
mosquitos.
Our traps held mostly retakes
but we today exceeded our
first hundred tagged animals.
Also took a large, old, male
mink in one of the muskrat
dens.
Followed our usual schedule
of 7:30 rising, run the traps,
notes + lab work + some rest in
afternoon, supper at 5:30 then
into the field again until about
11 P.M. by which time, on cloudy
nights it is getting dusk.
Waterfowl.
