  • Oreamnos. Aug. [August] 26, 1942. Okanagan Ldg. [Landing] Information from Major Allan [Cyril] Brooks. Mts. [Mountains[ east of Vernon = Monashee on Gold Range. Echo Lake [underlined] near Vernon - there was a small colony of about a dozen individuals in the mountains adjacent to this lake as late as 1898 but they were killed off shortly thereafter Fall Creek [underlined] about 15 goats still present around head of this creek in 1897 - none there now. Nickel Plate mine - Hedley, B.C. [British Columbia] There was a small colony here in the late 18 hundreds - present status unknown. Cherry Creek, Pinnacles at head of Kettle River - some present in 1989 As late as 1920 a few goats were present just below Edgewood on the west side of the lake. There is still a lick well frequented by goats + deer a few miles below Edgewood on the E [east] side of the lake. In 1906 there were no goats to be found on the mts. [mountains] between Mabel Lake + Sugar Lake. All are gone from Hunter's Range but the mts [mountains] north of Sugar Lake still bear Goats in fair numbers.
