Saw the largest bodied bull here
this evening that I have seen anywhere
on the trip. Its antlers were first
starting to strip, they were not as
large as I have seen - estimated at
50" [inches].
Jasper. Sept [September] 1/43 [1943]
Predators:- Saw [word crossed out] Bert White, Decoigne
saw 4 wolves chasing a yearling
or 2 yr. [year] cow moose near his station.
The moose ran down + through
the river while the wolves stopped
when a dog approached barking.
Date - Aug. [August]
Same authority reports that
in May a single wolf killed
a cow elk near Decoigne. No
marks on fore parts of the
animal. Flanks torn but viscera
not protruding. Hamstrings torn
but not severed. Wolf ate
udder + some adjacent meat
+ did not return.
