June 9 [1931]. Rain all day.
Went over to Robt. [Robert] Orr's Ranch
+ looked around the creek (Beaver
Creek. Found a beaver skull
+ collected some. Young Orr
presented us with 4 deer
skulls taken during the past
11 years. He says that the largest
deer he has taken dressed
at 200 lbs [pounds] another 180 lbs [pounds]
but most of them are very
much lighter. The 200 lb [pound]
animal had two point
horns 17 " between the curves
June 10 [1931]. Trap on the Stamp River
held one mink [male symbol] wt [weight] 3 lbs [pounds] 12 oz [ounces].
Trap on Lot 5 Alberni - held
a Raccoon [female symbol] wt. [weight] 8 lbs [pounds] 6 oz [ounces]
Rain off + on all day. Set out
some traps on Beaver Creek
on the Orr's Ranch. Saw several
places where beaver had
been working quite recently
saw a few coon [raccoon] tracks
but no mink tracks at
all. Squirrels fairly common.
June 11 [1931].
Rain all day of + on. Set out a line
of traps down Beaver C. [Creek] + up
the Stamp to join with the other
traps. Took small Sorex under
the bridge.
