Also a band of 45 on Maligne Lake, NE [northeast] side
about 2 miles up the lake.
Predation:- The actions of the sheep we
have seen positively indicate a dirth [dearth]
of predators here.

Today along the Rocky we saw about 10
high pastures upon which small bands
of sheep might winter. Perhaps a hundred
head in the aggregate
[Edward] Macdonald says that the small
band on Mt [Mount] Belcarus is resident there
+ that he once saw sheep on the
grassy sidehill N. [north] of this camp.
Predation:- Reports one instance of 4 coyotes
pulling down a ewe in deep snow
just below Cairn cabin. Says they
also get some crossing from the
Cairn to the east side.

Near the lick just E [east] of the highway
bridge across the Rocky I saw 9 sheep
as follows [female symbol]'s 4.
1 yr [year] [male symbol] 1
2 " [male symbol] 2
3 " [male symbol] 2
A yearling [male symbol] is one in its second summer.
etc. [etcetera] All were fat + in good condition
Color:- varied greatly from a dull brown
to a dark chocolate brown.
