Willow Creek. Snowed off + on all day May 21/44 [1944]
Stayed around camp washing clothes etc [etcetera]
in morning - shot + skinned solitary
sandpiper, Townsend warbler, Canada
jay + olive backed thrush. Shot but
lost a beautiful [male symbol] Black-poll warbler.
Rufe Neighbor + Judge Grote were
here this evening. They are hunting
horses of which they have 39 head
on this range.
They agree with the idea of
having the park boundaries along
river bottoms instead of on drainage
divides. They would however leave
the boundary along the Rocky as is.
Willow Creek. May 22, 1944
Snowed hard all day putting about 6 inches
on the level in late evening began to
rain.
Stayed in camp most of the day.
Saw no deer on the flats where they have
been visible every day, they are all held
up under the trees.
A small migration of white-throated
sparrows came through + we collected
four of them.
