Census. On Bald Mt. [Mountain] reserve today (29)
counted
3 [male symbol] 13 [female symbol] + 3 fawns
allowing for 4 yearling [female symbol]'s.
= 9 [female symbol] to 3 fawns.
In addition at [B.] Simpson's were
1, 3 year [male symbol] 1 18 mos [months] [male symbol] 2 18 mos [months] [female symbol]. 3 ad [adult] [female symbol]
+ 2 fawns. In the summer there were
4 fawns to these 3 [female symbol]'s but twin fawns
died in Nov. [November] as a result of injuries
suffered by the mother when they
were 3 weeks old.
Injuries Old doe broke left fore leg
below ulno-metatarsal joint on
about July 15, -1941. Suppuration set in
+ leg smelled greatly. doe lost
her appetite + was very sick for about
a month. Leg has healed completely
with only slight misalignment + is
now in use again.
Diseases All 4 fawns acquired an infection
of certain lymph glands at the angle
of the throat. These smelled
considerably + suppuration set in
ulceration + drainage through the
skin ensued - healing was complete
