[yesterday] Antlers:- yearling [male symbol] spike with short brow [male symbol] ad. [adult] 2 with spike only. 2 " [with] forked tip, leg + brow All still in velvet. Pelage + Moult: Yearling [male symbol] dark throughout almost black except for usual tail + buttock region + white hoofs. This young male clean, most others with a few old hairs on back. Parasites:- Flies, apparently bots keep them on the move all day. Watched 3 animals standing with their noses on the ground apparently to discourage the flies. Food:- Favor round leaved sorrel also eating many headed cotton sedge, small juncus yellow multiflowered composite, Equisetum, Western anemone (see journal)
