- Goldstream Lake. June 13/40 [1940]. Open area 1938 burn. The salal is making much new growth, also Berberis nervosa [underlined] + in some places Salix is sprouting from the root. Epilobium minutum [underlined] is abundant + the tall pungent composite Solchus [space left blank] + Lactuca occur in the damper spots Hieraceum [Hieracium] albiflorum + one or two related species are wide spread. An antennaria is casual also Linnea, bracken is dominant, Viola sempervirens fairly common + bramble moderately so. Of these the salal, berberis + willow provide the staple browse with spring use of grasses + spring + summer browsing on Hieraceum [word crossed out] Ipochaeris [underlined] other than H. [Hieracium] albiflorum [underlined]. E. [Equisetum] minutum [underlined] is eaten to a small extent + bramble to a varying degree.
