old rams just beginning to moult.

Carrot Creek, Banff Park. June 4, 1943.
Camped 6 miles up. Saw sheep tracks on
the trail + numerous signs on the hill
west of camp. Beneath the river rock on
the S. [south] face found a 3 year old ram dead
but untouched. By examination after
removal of maggots located two wounds
on neck. This, together with position
of animal leads me to conclude that
the kill was made by a lion.
At one other point on trail found
a piece of hide indicating presence of
a kill nearby.
Range When [Ernest] Senton came through here in
February the S [south] + E [east] facing hills were clear
+ on them he saw 50-75 head of sheep.
