3 [male symbol] and 2 [female symbol] Surf Scoters
1 [female symbol] Whitewing - flushed in the
morning from under a group of trees
and behaved [illegible word] strangely.
Flushed in the same way in
the evening and was clearly
dying (? lead shot poisoning) -
description of symptoms obtained.
The first Pintail nest found is
now empty with no eggshells
showing - human?
After dinner Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] and I walked
up the lake to Goldeneye lake where
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] showed me a whole bank of
pale mauve violets. I collected
bud samples in B6. Tin. The
bluebirds nest on the N.E. [northeast] side of
Sorenson now has four eggs.
In the meantime Nancy [Mahoney] fed Mikie
(our Microtus that lives in the
equipment tent) He seemed to
prefer her shoes to raisins. While
doing this the Pipit she had chased
out in the afternoon hopped through
the door, took one horrified look
at her, and shot out again.
