In the last week I have worked
over the lower valley pretty thoroughly
+ find that beaver are still present
in large numbers between here
+ Miette, in Patricia + Celestine
lakes + up the small creek half
a mile west of the cabin here.
There are great numbers also
up the Miette.
So far have seen beaver in
Talbot Lake, Celestine Lake +
in the Miette.

Today watched 3 beaver near Decoigne
They all were feeding on sedge roots
+ the stem bases.

There is a large beaver population on
Buffalo Prairie - feeding primarily on
aspen where that is available.
Willow Creek. May 25/44 [1944]
[Frank] Burstrom says there are still some beaver
here but there is no fresh sign. Some
of last fall
Blue Creek. May 28/44 [1944]
Beaver in Snake Indian cutting spruce
up to 15 in [inches?] diameter.
