lake Minnewanka
Last fall saw a sheep with a
badly swollen face - sounds like
Actinomycosis or necrosis
Dermacentor andersoni [underlined] active on sheep - specimens taken.
General:- 1 old ram by himself on Grassy Mt. [Mountain]
9 other sheep feeding alongside
elk on lower slopes of Grassy.
Food:- Sheep eating grass almost entirely, a
little bearberry.
Winter:- [Ernest] Stenton thinks that part of the L. [Lake]
Minnewanka herd winters on the Ghost river
April 28/43 [1943].
Census [underlined]:- Saw 3 ewes + lambs on Mt [Mount] Norquay.
1 " on lower slope of Mt [Mount] Peechee
Kills [underlined]:- Examined carcases [carcasses] of a 4 yr [year] + 5 yr [year]
ram on Carrot Cr. [Creek] trail about 3 + 4 miles
resp. [respectively] from [word crossed out] up the creek. These were killed
by a mt. [mountain] lion or more than one in
February. Only parts of the thigh + flank
had been eaten from each.
Diseases [underlined]:- Both these rams have ulcerated
mandibles - skulls saved.
Range:- Sheep reported on Mt [Mount] Wilson, Mt [Mount] Coleman + sunset Pass
along Jasper Highway.
