- Red-tailed Hawk
Monashee Pass B.C. [British Columbia] June 25, 26 + 27. 1937 Saw
each day when soaring over hillside to west
or seated on tall dead tree.
Mt [Mount] Revelstoke B.C. [British Columbia] July 19. 1937. Several
times have noted these hawks on westerly
slope. Today when driving towards summit
saw on [one] with ground squirrel by side of road
at about 5900 ft [feet]. It dropped the ground-
squirrel, which ran into a burrow, + flew
to a nearby pine, shrilly whistling as it
did so, then it flew to the top of a tall
dead shrub where [Ian McTaggart] Cowan collected it.
A mile or so further on saw its mate
sitting on a shrub.
