  • 161 June 1. 1952. Ashnola Forks Climbed to Starvation flats + then worked out onto Flatiron + down the trail. Saw only the sheep on crater these were all in one group + seemed to be 12 ads [adults] + 6 lambs but at 3 miles distance it was hard to be sure. Left here in evening + into Keremeos after dinner drove to Merrit for the night - Road very rought. June 2, 1952. Wm's [Williams] Lake. Drove to Kamloops this morning + then here. Road very bad beyond Lac La Hache Met Al West, Pat [Patrick Waldyve] Martin, Robin Kendall, R.M. Robertson, J.G. Cunningham, Mortenson Spent night at Chilcotin cabin camp. June 3, 1952 Westwick Lake. Drove out here this morning + found Mary Jackson + Nancy Harris hard at work. They have been concentrating largely on finding nests + have located 3 occupied + 1 deserted Goldeneye nest + 2 buffleheads so far. See sketch map. In evening [word crossed out] afternoon went to trappers meeting to discuss question of cow moose. 30 people in all only 10 of them trappers + guides. Collier sounded more like a Hyde Park soap box orator than ever. Spent night in Wms [Williams] Lake. New owner of Sorensons is F.J. Searle
