was flying rather high about the trees.
The forests hereabout are spruce, hemlock
(western), cedar, white pine and a little
Douglas fir. In the more moist places Devils
club is common, green alder and willow make up
the bulk of the deciduous patches together with
some Aspen - this becoming more abundant lower
down.
Along the roadsides 3 different Vaccinia and
a red berried honeysuckle grow.
Saw 1 Western Tanager.
1 Small Flycatcher.
20 Pine Siskins.
2 Red-eyed Vireo
1 Warbling Vireo.
2 Willow Grouse.
10 Olive-backed Thrush.
6 Golden Crowned Kinglets.

Skinned the catch in the mooring - 4
Microtus mordax, 2 Peromyscus, 2 Sciurus, [all underlined] 3
Black-capped chickadees, 1 white-winged cross-
bill.
In the afternoon we went up to 6000' to
collect some ground squirrels.
In the evening I shot 2 [male symbol] Lepus and Stewart
[Racey] shot a very large [male symbol] Prethizon.
This morning Mr. [Kenneth] Racey saw a small group of
chestnut-backed chickadees.
