- Ovis canadensis July 29/43 [1943]
playing on some large boulders. Jumping
about, climbing up + down + pushing
each other off. One large ram was lame in
right fore leg.
Specimen [underlined]:- At 6:30 shot the master
ram.
Food:- Arctic willow 50%
Small willow like plant 25%
Grass 25%.
Diseases:- Arrested case of lump jaw.
Parasites [underlined]:- Lungs with large consolidated
white areas containing a milky foam
+ small pus foci from pin head size
to 1/4 in. [inch] in diam. [diameter]. Removed hair lung
worms from lung tissue in these places.
About 1/6 of lung involved.
A heavy infestation of red stomach
worms beneath mucosa of abomasum.
Pelage:- Several of the rams were not completely
shed off. Two distinctly different color
phases. A pale phase with pale horns -
represented by our specimen + a very dark
phase with dark horns.
Pastures:- Several of the rams slept
either with their noses resting on
the ground or with the head canted
sideways + horn resting on ground
