The mouth disease referred to by [J.J.] Meredith
as occurring in two sheep last winter
sounds as if it were contagious
pustular dermatitis (see Runnels: 420)
One sheep developed complications + had to
be destroyed the other recovered spontaneously
Sawback L. [Lake] July 2/43 [1943]
Saw 5 ewes on hill at 3 mile near
Banff.
Same excellent winter range on S.W. [southwest]
face of Mt [Mount] Brewster. Also heavily elk
browsed. Ram summer range on
SW [southwest] face of 8636' peak s [south] of Sawback.
This connects through to Johnson Cr. [Creek]
Windy Cabin, Panther R. [River] July 4/43 [1943]
Census [underlined] On Bare Mt [Mountain] s. [south] slope 2 [female symbol] 2 lambs 1 month old
Around cabin 1 3 yrs [years] [male symbol] 3 yearlings, 2 lambs
6 ewes. some of them 2 yr [year] olds + not bred yet
wrangler says 3 only old ewes.
1 Lone yearling + 1 [female symbol] on hill
S [south] of Panther + E. [east] of Wigmore creek.
On upper slopes of Bare Mt. [Mountain] very little
sheep sign but lots of goat hair + droppings
Teeth:- On large skull in cabin storehouse
only had 3 upper teeth on each side.
Sulphur Springs, Panther R. [River] July 5/43 [1943].
From Bare Mt [Mountain] to the "corners" on the
Panther outside of the park used to be
one of the great ewe ranges. In
