- 115 May 13,/50. [1950] Ashnola Forks. Today went down to pole bridge + proceeded first north along slope then South + uphill around S [South] facing slides + bluffs to lunch at Crater Creek then up to Hargreaves flats, around to west + circled s [south] slope on way home. Vegetation Pseudotsuga [underlined] dominant, Bigeloma on higher more level areas of grassland, Amelanchier [underlined] + Ribes [underlined] fairly common. As on flatiron firs are highlined + Purshia + Ribes heavily chewed down. Sidehills terribly badly chewed up. Gully erosion on steep sidehills + sheet erosion on some areas. Grossly overstocked with cattle. Along this sidehill found 8 deer fawns winter killed + one ad [adult] [female symbol] predator killed. Saw one coyote Sheed [Sheep] 1 ram 4 yr [year] 1 " 2 yr [year] 1 ewe Deer. [male symbol] 7, [female symbol] 21, yrl. [yearling] 7, ? 86
