Blue Creek. May 26/44. [1944]
In February two wolverine killed
a deer on Blue Creek just across from
the cabin.
Bob Jones says that about that time
at least 6 individuals were present
between Blue Creek + Hoodoo Cabin.
Topaz May 30, 1944
While we sat on the mountainside at
timberline about noon today a
wolverine came up to the opposite
side of a canyon from us.
The canyon harbored a colony of
marmots. I shot the animal + it
proved to be a male in good pelage
but very pale.
Wounds [underlined]: The head + neck
bear more than a dozen deep
wounds not more than 2 or 3 days
old + there were small wounds
elsewhere on the body. Some hairs
buried in the subcutis behind the
right ear no doubt marked the
site of a previous wound.
Parasites:- The only parasite was a small
tapeworm of peculiar form in the
small intestine.
Weight:- Estimated at 45 lbs [pounds], no fat.
Food:- Stomach + intestine - empty except
for a small quantity of marmot fur
in the colon.
Meas. [Measurements] 980, 240, 190
