- May 25 [1932] Stayed around camp all
morning repairing pack board,
skinning rabbit etc. [etcetera] Broke camp
at 5:30 + hiked out to the Cotton
wood river camping there
about 8 o'clock. Saw nothing
of interest on the trip, Several
rabbits, a large mule deer doe.
Olive sided flycatcher, Hairy
Woodpecker + Red shafted Flicker.
May 26 [1932] Left the Cottonwood at 7:15
arrived 10 mile Lake, S [south] end
at about 10 o'clock. Saw a
mule deer doe + several rabbits
on the way.
Shot a female weasel at the
Lake also a pair of muskrats
one of which had only 3 legs.
Picked up a bittern with a
broken neck but not long dead
Found a mallards nest under a
felled tree 75 yds [yards] from lake,
made entirely of down, 10 small
ducklings were in it. Shot
a breeding male Surf Scoter.
2 out of every 3 hummingbirds
or more are Calliope.
