Spent the low tide in early AM [morning] at
Yakoun Point a few miles 2 [+/-] W [west] of
Tow Hill. A very rich collecting area
for molluscs.
At half tide beds of clay + sandstone
contained Pholadidea penita + Barlea[?].
Shallow tide pools on top of base
of central reef contained colonies
of Zirphea [Zirfaea] that were seldom if
ever dry. Thais [illegible word], emarginata
lima + lamellosa. all Acmaes of this
[illegible word]. A few Amphissa columbiana,
Searlesia at 3' [foot] level - found one actively
eating a Thais emarginata slightly
smaller than itself. Head, with proboscis
extruded was inside aperture of Thais +
foot surrounded the base. On the
west side of the point a colony of Siphonaria
occupied the fucus. These creatures had a
large body for their shell + clung only
loosely to the alga.
