- Oreamnos. Aug [August] 1/43 [1943] Isaac Cr. [creek] Goat hair on summit + grassy hill just N [north] of Brazeau Lake cabin. 1 goat seen yesterday on S [south] side of River Rocky Forks Aug. [August] 6/43 [1943] Saw 5 goats high up on the grass + rock ridges to the west of the river. Jacques Lake. Aug. [August] 7/43 [1943] Saw a [female symbol] + yearling on grassy hilltop just N [north] of cabin. [Warden Edward] Macdonald reports seeing as many as 9 on this hill in winter + 5 on the hill south of cabin. Doubt that this number could feed all winter - but there may be other patches nearby. Jasper, Alta. [Alberta] Aug [August] 8/43 [1943] Saw one goat on slide N [north] of Beaver Lake. Shale Banks Aug [August] 14/43 [1943] Licks [underlined]:- Shale lick 1 mile N. [north] of cabin - Could find little evidence of any special licking area. The bank starts at the top with a shallow layer of earth then about 6 ft [feet] of banded gravels of varied coarsness [coarseness] + dark sand almost sandstone that oxidizes yellow + orange. This lies on about 40 or 50 ft [feet] of consolidated gravel + sand. If there was any concentration of licking it was in the gravel immediately under the oxidized sandstone. From this I took my sample.
