June 1. Leaving camp at 5 o'clock we proceeded
along Jump creek for an hour or
slightly over + then struck to the right
following Jubilee creek up to its
headwaters in Jubilee lake. Alt. [Altitude] 2600'. On the
way up we saw a single doe in
winter pelage whereas two of
the deer seen lower down at
boulder creek were in summer pelage.
From Jubilee lake we kept to the
right up Green Mt [Mountain] coming out of
the timber onto the grass slides
at 4000'. It had been raining
hard all morning. We camped
under a tree for lunch at

slide 5 Buck deer + 6 does were
standing within a radius of
a hundred yards + did not
seem to be the least bit
alarmed. The bucks horns had
reached the point of the first
branching. Most of the bucks
were shedding but the does
were still in the gray winter
coat. [Ed] Torkko jumped a doe
with two very small fawns
but these were the only ones
seen. Two whistlers seen but
none taken. Two traps set
