- Journal.
Dormer Cabin. Aug [August] 9, 1945
Left Stony Creek Cabin at 11 AM. arrived
here at 3 P.M. Party George Harrison guide
+ outfitter, self, Jim [James Simpson] + cook. 11 head of
horses
En route saw
sheep 4 [male symbol] on Dormer Pass.
1 sow moose
1 goat.
In evening saw a group of goats recounted
8 listed on the 10th.
1 [male symbol] elk.
Dormer Cabin Aug. [August] 10, 1945.
Left camp at 8 AM + with 2 saddle
horses climbed N. [North] slope + made our
way cross country to the creek coming
out around the S. [South] side of Panther Mt [Mountain].
All the way there are beautiful
alpine slopes. The tips of some of
these must blow clean in winter
time but I doubt that many head
now winter here. Many old trails
indicate a heavier population some
years ago.
Dormer Cabin. Aug. [August] 11/45 [1945].
Rain early in the morning but cleared
at 10 o'clock + we proceeded to the head of
the Dormer. climbed from head of Stony Cr. [Creek]
to summit 8750' at Mt [Mount] Oliver + looked
down the head of Burned Timber Creek. Some
fine grassy hills to be seen but clouds
