In the open areas grass grows
two feet high + is interspersed
with Thistles, perennial aster
+ some minor weeds. Thistles
equisitum [equisetum] + the shrub B1a
tend to form underbrush
while at the bases of the cliffs
the wild raspberry grows
abundantly in soil containing
much volcanic ash. Briars
a very little snowberry + quite
a lot of willow grow, the
briar + willow along the stream
+ the snowberry on the side
banks. The Perennial aster 1-B-1
is very common. Briar 1-B-2,
Willow 1-B-3, Birch 1-B-4, Equisitum [Equisetum]
1-B-5 Oregon Grape 1-B-6 common in
places on the sides. Wild raspberry 1-B-7
Goldenrod 1-B-8 chiefly at foot of talus
slopes + drier places but not on
sides. Mint 1-B-9 + Watercress
1-B-10 grow in the stream.
